COVID-19 Love in Action Ministry Update

We are continuing to work to keep essential ministries available and scaling to the increased need that we expect to see in coming days while working to limit risk and exposure. This generally means that food, housing and medical needs are high priorities. Here are a few updates about LIA ministries.

The Love in Action food programs are scaling up as area needs increase.

  • Backpack Blessings are being distributed at four locations on Monday 10 AM – 2 PM and from 4 PM – 7PM alongside Grand Haven Public Schools food service meals for students. Locations are Robinson, Ferry and Lake Hills Elementary as well as River Haven – 14546 Mercury Drive, Grand Haven. Presently over 500 students are being served each week.
  • Food Pantries are experiencing increased usage. Area families can receive access to LIA pantries by calling 616-846-2701. No reviews or meetings are necessary.
  • Fresh Produce has been made available regularly as we are able to obtain it. Check our Facebook site for in-the-moment updates.
  • Food Donations at Fulton are moving fast with many extra volunteers for whom we’re truly grateful. Currently we are receiving ONLY food, personal care items and medical supplies. Pick-ups, hard goods, furniture, and clothing donations suspended until further notice.
  • Food drop-off locations exist at the the YMCA, the City Offices, All Shores Wesleyan Church, Covenant Life Church and of course Fulton St.
  • Hope House and Harbor Hall are continuing as residences with limited access. We are very much working to limit the exposure of both Houses during this time.
  • The LIA Health Clinic remains open with an on-call nurse to answer questions and provide referrals. Calling is encouraged rather than stopping in.
  • The Dental Clinic is closed for the time being.
  • LIA Stores are now CLOSED. Ferry St remains open – though EmpowerU classes and mentoring and client advising are temporarily cancelled.
  • All services that have been limited or closed are scheduled to remain until May 15. We will communicate more as developments occur.

Thank you all for your continued support and prayers. Would you join us in praying Isaiah 26:3: “You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you.”?
